Wendy Hawkins

Health Policy Project Manager

Wendy Hawkins (she/her) is a health policy project manager at CHRT. She is part of the health policy team with a focus on increasing access to behavioral health care in the state of Michigan.

Prior to joining CHRT, Wendy worked in harm reduction services in San Francisco and Los Angeles, providing harm reduction materials and support to people who use drugs and those experiencing housing instability. She also provided HIV/STI and Hepatitis C testing and referrals to wrap around services. Wendy worked as the project manager for a longitudinal HIV research study at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles that focused on breaking down barriers to care for LGBTQQIAA Black and Latino youth in Los Angeles County.

Wendy graduated with her Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2021. While at UM, Wendy contributed to work for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, researching racial inequities in COVID-19. She also served as a Public Engagement fellow for AFSC, contributing to a white paper sent to Michigan legislators discussing the carceral state in Michigan.
