Communications Manager
John Rodriguez, Jr. is a strategic communications professional with more than a decade of experience advancing mission-driven initiatives through thoughtful storytelling, digital strategy, and stakeholder engagement. As Strategic Communications Manager at the University of Michigan’s Center for Health and Research Transformation (CHRT), he leads the development and execution of integrated communications strategies that elevate organizational impact, strengthen brand identity, and expand audience reach.
John’s work spans content development, media relations, and digital engagement, including oversight of websites, social media, newsletters, and press materials. He collaborates closely with leadership to align communications with organizational goals, while managing budgets, vendor partnerships, and performance evaluation to ensure continuous improvement.
Prior to CHRT, John held communications leadership roles within the University of Michigan’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the Office of Academic and Multicultural Initiatives, where he supported institution-wide strategic planning efforts and led high-profile initiatives and events. His background also includes extensive experience in project management, data reporting, and large-scale event coordination within research environments.
A creative professional with expertise in design, photography, and multimedia production, John brings a collaborative and equity-centered approach to communications that amplifies voices, builds partnerships, and drives meaningful change.
