O’Nealya Gronstal

Executive Director , Lakeshore Food Club

O’Nealya Gronstal is the Executive Director of Lakeshore Food Club in Ludington, Michigan, where she leads one of the state’s most innovative models for dignified, community-based food access. Under her leadership, the organization has grown from serving 350 households to more than 2,800 and has significantly expanded investment in rural food systems through public and private funding.

She is the architect of Lakeshore Food Club’s school-placed Food Clubs, a pioneering approach that integrates choice-based grocery access directly into schools to reduce stigma and improve family nutrition. She is also leading the development of a regional food hub designed to strengthen local procurement, aggregation, and distribution across multiple rural counties. Her work bridges food access, economic resilience, and health equity through practical, community-driven systems change.

O’Nealya serves on the board of directors for the Lakeshore Regional Entity (LRE) PrepaidInpatient Health Plan and serves as a consultant to healthcare and agricultural partners on rural food access strategy and cross-sector collaboration. With more than 25 years of nonprofit leadership experience, she brings deep, field-based expertise in program design,coalition building, and policy-informed implementation.
