David Mendez, PhD, MS, is an associate professor of health management and policy at the University of Michigan School of Public Health and Ross School of Business. Trained in operations research, systems science, and applied statistics, Mendez has focused his research for more than two decades on the study and evaluation of tobacco control policies and their population health impact, using simulation models.
Besides his published research contributions, Mendez has shared his expertise directly with scientific organizations and government agencies at the national and international levels, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Institute of Medicine, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, the Food and Drug Administration, and the World Health Organization. Mendez teaches introductory courses in management science at the University of Michigan School of Public Health and the Ross School of Business.
