Chardae Burton
Legislative Analyst , Michigan Department of Health and Human Services
Chardae Burton is a Legislative Analyst for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). In conjunction with MDHHS liaisons, Burton works with members and staff of the Michigan Senate, Michigan House of Representatives, the Office of Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Department experts and key stakeholders on health and human services-related policy and constituent issues.
Having worked primarily on child welfare policy, Burton has also been involved with issues surrounding behavioral and mental health, to include initiatives addressing social determinants of health. Burton previously served as a Success Coach in the Pathways to Potential program. This position afforded the opportunity to work closely with students and families to break down barriers preventing them from achieving their highest level of potential; including the ability to sustain and access healthcare.
Burton is a proud graduate of Eastern Michigan University. After completing her Bachelor’s degree, she secured a job with Meridian Health Plan and later went on to intern with the Michigan House of Representatives.
