Debbie Chen, MD is a clinical assistant professor and health services researcher in the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology, and Diabetes at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Chen’s research is focused on examining challenges in access to cancer care and across the thyroid cancer care continuum from diagnosis to survivorship. Her work, which highlights asymmetric access to cancer care based on systems-level factors, significantly contributes to the conversation on how to improve cancer care delivery.

Dr. Chen’s work has been published in high impact journals, including Lancet, JAMA Surgery, and JAMA Network Open. Her ultimate goal is to translate her research findings into effective strategies and interventions to optimize cancer care delivery and improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Chen completed her medical education at the University of Rochester, her residency in internal medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and her fellowship in endocrinology at the University of Michigan.
