Dr. Garrett Conyers
Assistant professor of neurology , University of Michigan
Garrett Conyers, MD, MPP, is an assistant professor of neurology at the University of Michigan with clinic expertise in treating patients with cerebrovascular disorders. Dr. Conyers graduated Phi Beta Kappa and with honors from Morehouse College. He received his MD from Harvard Medical School while completing a master’s in public policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
Dr. Conyers took two years off in medical school to lead a community participatory research project looking into health inequities in underserved communities in Boston. He then completed a neurology residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital followed by a fellowship in vascular neurology at the University of Michigan. He joined the Department of Neurology as a faculty member in 2023.
Dr. Conyers is involved with diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts at the University of Michigan and with several national medical professional societies. He is passionate about healthcare equity and optimizing systems of care for vulnerable populations, such as imprisoned and socioeconomically disadvantaged patients. His research is focused on health delivery models for carceral populations, specifically the implementation of telehealth strategies to improve healthcare value and transitions of care.
