Kristina Leonardi
Division Director , Aging and Community Services Division of MDHHS
Kristina Leonardi is a division director for the Aging and Community Services Division of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. She joined MDHHS in 2021 and oversees aging programs such as nutrition, the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP), direct care worker initiatives, senior volunteer programs, evidence-based programs, Medicaid home and community-based services (such as the MI Choice Waiver Program), traumatic brain injury services, and community transition services.
Leonardi has an extensive background in strategy and planning, partnerships, policy, and grants. She has spent most of her career serving in government, working on health and human service programs, veterans’ programs, education, employment, alternative energy, defense, and homeland security. She has partnered across agencies to accomplish strategic objectives and develop collaborative relationships, as well as developed public-private partnerships across the Great Lakes region.
Leonardi holds a master’s degree in criminal justice and bachelor’s degrees in criminal justice and Spanish from Michigan State University.
