Lori Woo

Health and Social Equity Intern

Lori Woo is a health and social equity intern at CHRT. Her work focuses on Community Care Hub development, non-emergency medical transportation, and the Washtenaw Health Initiative.

Lori is a master’s student in social work (Older Adults and Families pathway) and a Geriatric Scholar at the University of Michigan. She has clinical and case management experience with the older adult population from internships at a skilled nursing facility and Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE).

Prior to joining CHRT, Lori was a qualitative research assistant at the Steve Hicks School of Social Work, where she adapted an evidence-based mindfulness and resiliency training for healthcare professionals into a six-week pilot program aimed at reducing high-risk alcohol and substance use among college students. At SHSSW, she also worked on the Postpartum Access to Healthcare (PATH) project for the Texas Collaborative for Healthy Mothers and Babies, assessing how underserved patients in Central Texas navigate and utilize public healthcare programs during the transition from pregnancy to postpartum. Her research with PATH culminated in an undergraduate honors thesis on peripartum mental health among beneficiaries of public healthcare programs.

She holds dual bachelor’s degrees in social work and Plan II from the University of Texas at Austin.
