Mary So

Social Equity Intern

Mary So is a health and social equity intern at CHRT. Her work focuses on the Healthy Aging Collaborative, community care hub development, strategic planning, grant writing, and budget and fiscal management.

So is a master’s of social work candidate and National Community Scholar at the University of Michigan with over eight years of combined experience in sales, customer service, administration, management, law, and healthcare. Her macro social work portfolio includes community capacity-building, crisis support, and trauma-informed service delivery at youth development and gender-based violence organizations across the U.S.

Before joining CHRT, So was a public health assistant at the Washtenaw County Health Department, where she conducted a longitudinal geospatial analysis that identified key demographic changes in the community. She facilitated focus groups with immigrants, staff, and immigrant-serving institutions across Washtenaw County to highlight barriers to health-promoting services. Her contributions to the county’s immigrant health needs assessment resulted in a report outlining community needs and recommended strategies for enhancing equitable health service delivery and accessibility in collaboration with community partners.

So holds a bachelor’s degree in critical social thought from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts.
