Megan Faucett

Clinical Assistant Professor , Wayne State University Medical Laboratory Science Program

Megan Faucett is a clinical assistant professor in the medical laboratory science program at Wayne State University, specializing in immunohematology, molecular diagnostics, and laboratory operations. Faucett is a board-certified medical laboratory scientist and technologist in molecular biology. Through course and curriculum development and interdisciplinary collaboration, Faucett provides future laboratory professionals with the knowledge and skills needed for success in the evolving healthcare landscape.

Before her academic role, Faucett worked at Wayne State University’s perinatology research branch, collaborating with clinicians and researchers to improve maternal and fetal health outcomes, particularly for underserved and high-risk populations. Faucett is a member of the Red Blood Cell Patient Data Antibody Exchange (RBCAX) Working Group through the DHHS Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy, contributing to national efforts to enhance transfusion safety. Her research interests include improving healthcare engagement for sickle cell disease patients, particularly addressing racial and ethnic-based psychosocial barriers to care. Faucett is focused on shaping healthcare policies that enhance patient safety and reduce health disparities.

Faucett holds a master’s degree in health sciences in health care quality from George Washington University and is completing an MBA with dual specializations in healthcare management, innovation, and technology and public and private sector leadership at Johns Hopkins University.
