Shannon Jackson
Program Manager, Residents in Action , University of Michigan
Shannon Jackson works to build racial equity, health, and poverty solutions in her hometown of Jackson, MI. With a 25-year career in the mental health and child welfare fields, Jackson has provided program evaluation, data analysis and quality improvement for Starr Commonwealth, a large human service agency in Southcentral Michigan.
Currently, Jackson works to support resident-led initiatives in the Black and low-income community in Jackson’s Ward 1 and Ward 5. She provides research, evaluation, and fund development to small nonprofits and grassroot organizations to build the capacity to lead their own change. Prior to this work, Jackson provided direct care services to clients delivering case management, group, and individual interventions.
Jackson holds a social work master’s degree in policy and evaluation from the University of Michigan School of Social Work, and has dedicated her career to using research and data analysis to design programs that work best for families and communities.
