Thomas Buchmueller, Ph.D., is the Waldo O. Hildebrand Professor of Risk Management and Insurance and Professor of Business Economics at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. He also holds an appointment in the Department of Health Management and Policy in the School of Public Health and is a core faculty member in the Child Health Evaluation and Research Unit. He is a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research. He is an editor of the Berkeley Electronic Journal of Economic Analysis and Policy and is on the editorial boards of Inquiry and the Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance: Issues and Practice.

Professor Buchmueller is a health economist whose research focuses on the economics of health insurance and related public policy issues. His recent research includes studies on consumer demand for health insurance and public health insurance for children.
