Understanding the impact, reach, and overall effectiveness of evidence-based family caregiver programs across Michigan
There has been much progress in recent years in acknowledging the role that family caregivers play in the lives of older adults and in recognizing the unique needs of this population. Many programs have been developed to help support family caregivers, but there remains a need to more systematically understand the impact, reach and overall effectiveness of these programs.
The Michigan Health Endowment Fund (MHEF) is collaborating with CHRT to develop an environmental scan of current evidence-based programs for family caregivers in order to better understand the reach, efficacy, and effectiveness of these programs in Michigan.
The goals of this project are to:
• Develop an understanding of the reach of evidence-based family caregiver programs in Michigan;
• Develop guidelines that can help identify higher-performing programs, particularly in relation to participant engagement and outcomes;
• Highlight best practices and assess the gaps and strengths of current programs in Michigan; and
• Develop a set of findings that includes observations and next steps resulting from the environmental scan of family caregiver programs.
