Theresa Dreyer

Lead, Value Based Care , Association of American Medical Colleges

Theresa Dreyer is value based care lead at the Association of American Medical Colleges, where she facilitates initiatives for over 40 academic medical centers. Dreyer identifies opportunities for improvements to care or policy, advocates for federal policy changes to promote the highest quality of care, and serves as the subject matter expert on value-based care policies.

Previously, Dreyer was an account manager and senior consultant at COPE Health Solutions, where she was instrumental in setting the organization’s strategic vision for population health in the New York City area, and a project lead at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, where she designed and launched the Pennsylvania Rural Health Model to improve quality and reduce costs for rural patients.

Dreyer worked at the Center for Health and Research Transformation (CHRT) from 2012-2016, first as a graduate fellow and then as health care analyst. At CHRT, Dreyer led analytic research projects for large payer and provider organizations, analyzed claims data, recommended strategies to improve quality and reduce costs, conducted lean quality improvement analyses, wrote issue briefs and academic publications, and organized a community service group to reduce drug overdose deaths in Washtenaw County resulting in a 25 percent reduction in deaths from 2014 to 2015.

She holds a master’s degree in public health and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan.
