Robert Goodman, DO, MHSA, FACEP

Medical Director, Blue Care Network of Michigan

Robert Goodman, DO, MHSA, FACEP, is a medical director with Blue Care Network of Michigan and is a graduate of both the Michigan State University undergraduate program and the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Goodman completed a residency in Emergency Medicine, is board certified and later received a Masters in Health Services Administration from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. He held both clinical and administrative positions in Metro Detroit area emergency departments prior to joining BCN in 1999, along with involvement with the Wayne County EMS system and EMS education.

His role at BCN includes activities in the areas of utilization management and analysis, medical informatics, medical policy, research review and other duties. Dr. Goodman has previously been involved in Michigan Certificate of Need Commission committees and workgroups, and has been a member of a National Quality Forum steering committee on emergency care. He has published studies on emergency department utilization and specialist physician profiling.

He chairs the Greater Detroit Area Health Council Emergency Department Utilization Team and is a member of the CHRT’s Research and Policy Committee and Survey Subcommittee, as well as a member of MiPCT’s Stewardship and Performance Committee and on the BCBSM Foundation Grants Advisory Panel. He is also participating with UM-SPH on a CDC funded grant for Economic Studies of Immunization Policies and Practices.”
