Evaluation: Community violence intervention initiative
Washtenaw County has been experiencing an increase in retaliatory violence, particularly among individuals who have been victims of violence themselves. This cycle of violence not only endangers the immediate individuals involved but also poses a significant threat to the broader community’s safety and well-being. Addressing this issue requires immediate intervention strategies that can effectively disrupt this cycle and promote healing and resilience among affected individuals.
CHRT will evaluable the expansion and enhancement of Washtenaw County’s Life is Valuable Everyday (WeLIVE) initiative. WeLIVE is a hybrid community violence intervention initiative that integrates hospital-based violence intervention and street outreach and violence interruption approaches.
The objectives for the evaluation are to: 1) collaborate with members of the Washtenaw County Violence Commission to identify evaluation aims and develop an evaluation plan; 2) establish data use agreements (DUAs) to enable access to data sources outlined in the evaluation plan; 3) assess the implementation of WeLIVE, identifying what is going well and where there are opportunities to improve the initiative’s implementation and impact; 4) evaluate the impact of the expanded WeLIVE initiative on program participants and the community; and 5) collaborate with the Washtenaw County Violence Commission to identify key audiences for the evaluation and share evaluation findings with those audiences.
